August 2018 – Summer in the mountains

It’s August already here in Villaroger and time is passing too quickly.

Anneha has passed her French Baccalaureat and left school in July so we are very proud parents. She is taking a winter out and hopefully working as a ski technician so she can  train for her test technique to became a ski instructor to add a string to her bow.

Fifi has also broken up from school and is enjoying a few weeks off.

The weather has been great for the majority of July and August so we have been out on our bikes, walked and been white water rafting. We have redone our terrace as it needed a bit of TLC. It does look better and is a bit bigger too.

We were in La Rosiere for the Tour de France in July to see Geraint take the stage win and the yellow jersey. We walked up from Mousellard , near Montvalezan and it was a stunning route. The atmosphere was amazing.

Anneha was lucky enough to be picked for the Tour de France Cadets for the Alpes d’Huez stage and  to ride the route after the procession (caravelle) and before the riders went through. What an experience, we were there to welcome here at the top of Alpes d’Huez. It was an experience of a lifetime.

We visited Wam Park near Albertville last week for the first time. Its a great place where you can wake board, water ski and enjoy the inflatable course in the lake. It felt like we were abroad. Lovely jetty’s and cafe too.

We have been over to Italy a couple of times, enjoyed a pizza and the best ice cream from the shop in La Thuile.

More work is going on in Villaroger and Les Arcs. More snow cannons going in on our side and they are replacing the Comborciere lift out of Les Arc 1950 to access 1600. Its going to be a high speed ski lift and will mean we can ski down from the top of the second lift in Villaroger and be straight over to Arc  1600 in no time. Exciting times.

The fete on the 15 August in Villaroger was a huge success as always. I worked on the cake stand and the girls ran the “hook a duck” stand.

Lovely to see people I’ve not seen since the winter as it brings everyone out.

Please book early for the coming season to get the dates you want. Ski weekends, short ski breaks are still on offer as well as your weekly ski holidays.

Look forward to hearing from you.
