30th Aug 2012

Its been the Tour de France since last time we spoke. We went to watch one day when it started from Albertville. We got really close to Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish. It was a brilliant atmosphere and the caravans before were brilliant throwing out lots of freebies. They went from Albertville to Col de Madeleine and we saw them on their next ascent up the Col de Glandon. They pass so quick and show no signs of fatigue. Machines they are , Machines!!!

Only 2 weeks to go until the piste2plage Challenge. Jonny has trained hard and is in his final week of hard training as the week before he needs to rest as much as possible to conserve his energy. He is reading up on nutrition and when and what  to eat to get the most out of himself. He’s doing really well and whilst its still not described as enjoyable he feels its within his limits to succeed.

His Charity page is going well , he’s raised over £1000 to date for Help the Heros, thankyou so much to everyone who has supported him. You can find his page if you click here.

I am going to follow him enroute in a friends Camper van , my mum and GT are kindly coming out to look after the girls. I will be making snacks for the boys , doing dinner, making sure they have everything to hand and so can concentrate on getting up the Cols. Its going to be gruelling, we just hope the weather doesnt turn otherwise it could actually be snowing at the top in places.

I will keep everyone informed re Twitter and Facebook on how things go.

We went back to the UK at the beginning of the month for the 80th Birthday of Jonny’s mum. She had a full birthday weekend and it was so nice to spend time with family.

It was the 15th August Fete du Villaroger , and we all dressed up as Olympic Sports people. Jonny was Bradley Wiggins!!!

My sister came out last week and we went caravanning in Annecy. It was lovely, the weather was superb and the kids got along great. We kayaked, pedaloed, cycled to Annecy and took a small motor boat out on the lake.

Jonny cycled Cormet de Roselend both ways  and round the lake.I need to wait until the girls go back to school to get into my bike again.

It was Fi’s 9th birthday this month and she spent it with her cousins, which was nice. She got lots of lovely things and her prize present was a soda stream which she loves.

Our friend Rich was 50 and he  had a Hawaain party to celebrate. Everybody made a real effort and the punch flowed.

We have now got a lovely roof canopy over our bassin in the Village . It looks great.

The road to Villaroger has been closed since April but is due to reopen in September after having been fully repaired, in fact its just opened tonight, thank goodness.

Its been a pain having to go via Bonneville all the time, especially when  picking  Fi up for lunch from school. I have felt like a taxi driver.

We had a heatwave last week with temperatures reaching 39 degrees here in Villaroger. The weather this Summer has been fabulous.

Helen and Martin came out in June on their motorbikes to ride the Cols. They said they had a great time and here is their blog detailing their holiday , including their stay at ours.

Bookings are coming in for the Winter so please get in touch to get the dates you want.

Don’t forget the Glacier in Tignes is open late September so Half Term in Oct could be spent up there !
